Dr Vinayagam, often known as Dr D. to his patients, graduated from medical school in London and has over 15 years of experience working as an NHS clinician. Dr D began specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and spent many years working in London, Surrey and Sussex. He conducted postgraduate research at St George’s Hospital, London and was awarded a doctorate for his research work in high-risk pregnancy. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, authored multiple book chapters, given national and international presentations, and been a trainer and tutor to doctors in training and other health professionals.
Despite a rewarding career in maternity and women’s health, Dr D. decided to change career paths and re-train as a General Practitioner. Transitioning to General Practice, Dr. D built a diverse portfolio working across London, Surrey and Sussex. Dr D.’s roles span NHS and private sectors, including GP surgeries and the GP out-of-hours sector in Surrey (NHS 111). He has worked in acute care settings such as A&E and has been an educator and supervisor. Additionally, he practises as a gynaecological surgeon in the independent sector. Dr D remains committed to his professional development and was awarded a Diploma in Paediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (2024).
Known for his affable and approachable manner, Dr. D engages with patients from various backgrounds. Some of his keen interests include women’s health (including menopause and pregnancy related conditions), children’s health, community surgery (such as skin lesion removal) and microsuction for ear wax removal. Dr. D is committed to providing comprehensive, holistic and personalised care.

The first time I saw Dr Lavan was about 6 years ago, I was an anxious mum with my second baby. As soon as I walked in the room he was calm attentive and didn’t make me feel like I was wasting his time with my little concerns. He changed my family that day he took the time to check my son over and sorted the problem. 6 years down the line he is the main Dr I go to see as I have so much trust in him. Since the day he arrived in our community and took up the reigns at one of the main GP surgeries here, he has been an active part of my health life. The change for the better was instant. He is a doctor that wants to listen, wants to help and does all he can for his patient’s progress. No request meets a barrier with him. A recent social media post about Dr Baskaran on our local group shows just how much the community value him and hold him in high regard. Dr Vijay Vijay gave me the best medical care I’ve ever received I’m my 57 years of life. He spent time to understand my problem and went above and beyond to make sure every Avenue was covered to try and diagnose my problem. Although exceptionally busy in A&E that day he made me feel I was his only patient, I wasn’t rushed or hurried. People are too quick to complain about poor service, but Dr Vijay Vijay needs praising, his bedside manner is so calming and professional.
